Travel to: Madrid 5 reasons why to stay at the Axel Hotel Madrid
Recently, I had the chance of staying at the new Axel Hotel in Madrid and honestly, it’s one of the coolest hotels that I’ve been to. From its modern and avant-garde design, to the unique experience it offers, it’s a hotel worth visiting and today I bring you 5 reasons why I recommend you to stay there when visiting the Spanish capital.
- Anything Can Happen
As one of their insignia phrases say, in Axel Hotels, ‘Anything Can Happen’. Being the first LGBT hotel in the capital, you can expect to find any kind of character staying there. You could as well run into mannequin legs in the corridors and other spaces, hands right on the door with your room number, or even enjoy some crazy cool events. In Axel Hotel Madrid they make a call to diversity and respect. It doesn’t matter where you come from, how you dress like, who you love, your race, religion or culture, in this hotel you’ll be able to meet all kinds of people and you’ll feel welcome no matter whath.
2. Great location
The hotel is located on Atocha 49, in the emblematic neighbourhood of Las Letras. A centered location ideal for getting around Madrid. Near you’ll find all kinds of offer, from gastronomy and shopping to theater and partying. But really, you don’t have to leave the hotel if you don’t want to, there’s an amazing restaurant, 3 bars, a great rooftop, a gym and a spa.
3. The best rooftop with the best views
As it is tradition in Axel Hotels, its emblematic Sky Bar is ‘the’ meeting point for all the guests in the hotel as well as for locals. A terrace that counts with one of the best views over the capital with a modern design, an amazing pool and delicious cocktails. It’s a perfect spot for appreciating the Madrilean sunset, while enjoying some drinks with good company.
4. Back to the 80’s
Personally, the 80’s are one of my favourite eras and I would have loved to live it. Axel Hotel Madrid was totally inspired on the Madrilean movement from the 80’s, you will stumble upon things that will remind you of the mythical movie director Pedro Almodovar, you’ll hear 80’s music in the hallways, you’ll see neon lights in the rooms and Sky Bar, and even its restaurant has an 80’s look that will definitely transport you to that time while to eat to the tunes Alaska.
5. Las chicas, los chicos y los maniquís
As I just mentioned, the hotel’s restaurant, Las Chicas, Los Chicos y Los Maniquís by Grupo Iglesias, is also inspired on the Madrilean 80’s movement, but besides its unique design and concept, the food is SPECTACULAR! You know that when it comes to good food, I’m sold!
I had the chance of trying the tasting menu and I was really surprised with all their dishes, a mix of traditional Spanish dishes with innovative touches. Gastronomic delights that you must really try if you’re in Madrid.
To be honest, I left with this feeling of wanting more and I will repeat stay with no doubt next time I’m in Madrid.
