Eat in: Café Des Epices – Marrakech
So as some of you might know, recently I had the opportunity of visiting one of my favourite countries so far: Morocco. Besides having beautiful landscapes and super kind people, the food is something that I really really loved.
You can get really good food for a good price almost anywhere. I was travelling all the way from Marrakech down to the Merzouga dessert, stopping in random restaurants on the road and almost everywhere I managed to eat well. However, when I was back in Marrakech I wanted to try restaurants that were not 100% touristy but weren’t completely traditional at the same time. Then, thanks to a friend who recommended me Nomad, (which I also visited) I found Café Des Epices , owned by the same people and it was exactly what I was looking for.
Café Des Epices is located inside the Souq on a very cute plaza where they sell spices. The menu is made of traditional Moroccan dishes, but the place has this international vibe I really loved. Low tables and chais, a rustic and cozy decoration, super friendly service and a beautiful rooftop to enjoy the Spring sun, this is one I definitely recommend when visiting Marrakech.
Starter: House salad (potatoes, carrots, aubergine, peppers, courgette, green beans)
Main: Chicken and caramelized pear tajine
Dessert: Assortment of Moroccan pastries – obvosuly I had to try them all, but my favourite was the Bahlaoua
